Anche se
il primo calendario in assoluto dedicato a Tolkien è uscito sul numero di dicembre
(1968) Meretricious, Shangri l'Affaires Christmas Art Supplement 1968
curato da Ken Rudolph e Jim Schumacher con le illustrazioni di Tim Kirk, questo
è possibile considerarlo il primo vero calendario “autorizzato”.
Presenta
10 illustrazioni dello stesso Tolkien (una per ogni mese), due mappe realizzate da Pauline D. Baynes
e una foto del Professore scattata da John Wyatt.
La particolarità è data che questo è l'unico calendario che Tolkien riuscì a vedere giacché venne a mancare il 2 settembre 1973.
