Sarà forse quello che tutti gli appassionati delle trilogie cinematografiche di Peter Jackson sognavano? Forse no, come spiego alla fine di quest'articolo, ma il prossimo 4 ottobre 2016 arriverà un cofanetto special per chi ha amato le due pluripremiate trilogie. Infatti sul sito Amazon è apparsa l'annuncio di vendita di questo cofanetto che contiene assieme le due trilogie con una serie di nuovi filmati e non solo. Il prezzo dovrebbe essere in prevendita di 800 dollari. Un prezzo non proprio economico, se si considera che gli appassionati della saga cinematografica dispongono già di tutte le svariate edizione, cinema, deluxe, estesa, prodotte in questi lunghissimi anni.

La Warner avrebbe dovuto accedere ai negativi originali, digitalizzare i blooper, le scene tagliate e le sequenze aggiuntive. Si rifiutarono di farlo, il che rese il piano mio e di Michael Pellerin per realizzare dei documentari esaustivi impossibile da produrre. Né io né Michael siamo stati coinvolti in questa uscita. Forse la Warner deciderà di sostenere il nostro documentario in occasione del 25esimo anniversario, ci piacerebbe davvero farlo prima o poi.

They declined to do this, which made Michael Pellerin and my original plans for the comprehensive documentary we hoped to produce for this box set, impossible to produce. Infatti,
nel 2014 Peter Jackson propose alla Warner un cofanetto che contenesse tutto il
materiale inedito girato durante quella meravigliosa esperienza. Il progetto,
che vedeva coinvolto per l’appunto il produttore delle Appnedici e dei
contenuti speciali nelle edizione estese Michael Pellerin, si vide opporre un
diniego. Ergo, per vedere e, magari, avere qualcosa di davvero speciale si deve
aspettare ancora dieci anni!
